Isle Of Wight surfer types Plastic Mermaids had been resonating with us pre ‘Disposable Love’ and with the help of their loveable old VHS tapes promo vids I felt powerless to resist them again. At the crux of ‘Disposable Love’ is the realisation in melody that true love might just evade the majority of us. So better just go with what feels right at the time and have a ball while we’re at it. The troupe can turn on the charm, change tact and basically mess with our heads in the way their music just ups and downs the tempo so the listener should be in quite the happy tizzy by the finish. Plastic Mermaids second LP ‘It’s Not Comfortable to Grow’ is out in September. KH
