Chief Springs – La Cienega

‘La Cienega’ reminds me of both Luna and Witness, two bands that teetered on the edge of all out loveable but never quite reached it. But by collecting the fanciness of both Chief Springs have created something that is instantly alluring and it was down to us to find out the depth of its all. The jangle and playing had our ears cocked immediately and in that singer there is a crooner who will have certain types going weak at the knees, and not just those suffering from old 5-a-side injuries either. ‘La Cienega’ also shows us that Leicester’s Chief Springs have a little more in reserve too as the instrumental break at the end provides a beautiful cap to all that previous grandeur.
