Solipse – Who Knows

Chicago’s Solipse sure do they have a crashing down approach to their music, it filled my head from the word go and kept on finding new ways to entertain us. For me there is something entirely 90’s going on here, from a Belle & Sebastian like introspection to a collection of near shoegaze chord/percussive volleys that remind of Ride and Adorable. So ‘Who Knows’ returns us to a time where we could close our eyes and use the goosebumps produced as a form of high. Solipse are terrifically noisy but I found ‘Who Knows’ to be entirely tunesome with it. It may not be love this time, I think it is more full-on obsession – which makes Solipse’s upcoming eponymous LP an all the more exciting prospect. KH
