It feels like ReykjavÃk’s GusGus have been with us forever (in truth they’ve been making music since the mid-90’s). And given their exalted status amongst electronica fans it comes as no surprise that the duo’s latest single ‘Out of Place’ feels so perfectly realised, drifting in and out of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark’s 80’s consciousness sure but with a chorus that will have contemporary electro pop fans in a lather too. I was certainly daydreaming at the possibilities of being made this happy by music alone. It doesn’t happen very often but then bands like GusGus that have a capacity to continually evolve and inspire are rare. ‘Out of Place’ ensures we’re listening intently but very much lost in the moment too.
