More often than not acts arrive on our desks who sound like they are ringing it in, something that you could never accuse L.A.’s Ariel Beesley of because she summons the words from deep down with such gusto I am quite sure she’d need to lie down afterwards. Not only that but she has a classic thang going on here too that reminds of Blondie/Sleeper/Echobelly but peppered with all sorts of contemporary ruminations too. It is catchy, angry and boasts a great chorus so of course we are compelled to bow at its altar. Indie anthem alert (IAA!). KH
