Imaginary People – Hometown

Had to double back after giving this track, from New York’s Imaginary People, a little time. Not that it was a particularly tough listen, in fact it struck me as something that was right up our alley almost immediately but these things can lose their lore on a second pass. Every occasion though revealed a singer (the sumptously named Dylan Von Wagner) that reminds of Stuart Staples from Tindersticks. Those bytesized but punchy chunks of words and a particularly loose and freewheeling arrangement meant we scarcely had time to take a breath. Makes for an absorbing 5 minutes. KH
