What a fine name for a band making such forlorn drifts, steadying the ship as it goes but always seeing fit to retain that sense of melancholy. As a result ‘Watch The Paint Dry’ makes for a fulsome listen, the kind you could slip into, the way you might slip into a warm bath with rose petals occupying the surface. There are Beach Boys formations but it is the Sigur Ros effect that ushers in the dreampop epicenter. A persuasive and often moving sound from Billy Libby, more of which can be found on his 2018 album ‘The Bottom of the Sea’. KH
