Crikey ‘Jezebel’ sounds completely insane, retro fuelled, spirited with a lo-fi spirit and a delicious instrumental dash. And that’s before you get to the sensible vocal wrath that could haunt your dreams. That distant whistle just adds to the ramshackle glory, but like me you’ll probably still love its slovenly ways. And Chicago trio Engine Summer are a whole lot more besides, their debut LP ‘Trophy Kids’ is a must listen for lovers of chaotic noise. KH
