‘Flowers’ is such a tidy indie sound with a singer (Halloway Jones) who sounds like she’s out of Pittsburgh’s the Van Allen Belt and that means a whole lot of going off-piste with very little encouragement. Just as impressive as the classic pop vocals are the arrangements which are nuanced and remind one of peak Stereolab as they continually forage for new ways to enthral us. ‘Flowers’ is produced with a minimum of effort which bodes well for this Toronto based group.
