Dyan – Absence

If Roy Orbison was still with us and energised by the music all around this could well be what he’d have dreamed up. The restraint is palpable but that is not to say it does not have a uplifting quality and that mostly stems from Alexis Marsh’s voice, which cuts out all fat and leaves us with pure intention. ‘Absence’ is deeply immersive, a head massage and slipstream of gentle noise to bathe in after another day of busy life that chews at your vitality. Any band that can get away with a cheesy sax solo to fade out must be made of stellar stuff. KH
