The glamour of Astrid Cordes and Simon Kjeldgaard’s early-Cardigans like indie pop is all too apparent on ‘Pretenders’, taken from their beguiling debut LP ‘Make Up’. Despite the Danish band’s adherence to a tried and tested melodic template Shy Shy Shy’s narrative is clearly stuck in the present as they try to make sense of brazen social media lifestyles and the cowering lonely personalities behind the superficial glitz.
