More like a voice that has emerged from the edge of the green forested expanse as yet untouched by human hand. ‘Agua es Vida’ is also very Stereolab in direction from this Oakland based chanteuse, late career though so it brings with the sense of gallic cool. The chirping singing style is inventive and though it is not immediately obvious it blooms on repeat listens the way Juana Molina’s music also does. If you are in the market for avant-garde but without any of the snooty undertones this is a real find. KH
