There was a time on ye olde hugger towers that electronica occupied a near equal status with stock-in-trade indie rock. Over time order has been restored however and the beats have been obliterated by the sound of guitars. Thankfully there are moments like on Desert Moons debut single ‘Rough Trade’ that we go off script and feel the fresh twist of danceability. In truth this track is a hybrid, a gushing set of vocals and keys that spends its time rummaging for the best way to breadcrumb us back towards slinky body movement. Desert Moons are a set of siblings from lower Australia and the confidence suggested here would point to festival regulars adding their own particular pulse to proceedings each summer. KH
