Much too early on a Saturday evening for this to work, but let the imbibing run its course and Miho Hatori’s ‘Barrucuda’ could prove a very useful foil for DJ’s trying to resurrect proceedings. Hatori was a founding member of Cibo Matto and played the part of Noodle in Damon Albarn’s Gorillaz’s project. She tends to dabble quite a bit in other projects too (notably with the Beastie Boys), which might explain why 2005’s ‘Ecdysis’ remains her solitary solo album. ‘Barracuda’ was the trophy single, an arty statement of intent that has very few peers. It does close very much in a similar vein to Doves’ ‘There Goes The Fear’ mind. KD
