Sadly not a cover of the Elbow tune, thankfully something just as fanciful. ‘Mirror Ball’ was to be released as a 7″ earlier this year on Chapter Music but even a bout of extensive googling could not throw up anything confirmative (though they seems to have connected with the Passport label). Regardless, this is a perfect slice of indie pop, gently tailored with melodies that hang in the perfumed air. The Crayon Fields (I should probably be dropping the ‘The’ but it doesn’t seem clear what their preferences are”¦shutup) appeared here a couple of years back and quietly rocked our socks off with their neat sixties sensibilities. Our second meet is no less enjoyable and with a new album planned (and hopefully this time executed) for later in the summer we could soon become even more enraptured. KD
