We all loved the racket made by Times New Viking v1.0 but the cleaned up, less frazzled v2.0 may be even better if ‘No Room To Live’ is anything to go by. It seems the sheen is as a result of recording in a proper studio for the first time but that is surely only half the story. The Columbus band are noted for their sonic experimentation and after 4 LP’s it could just be that they’ve concluded that perhaps the boffins had it right all along. Anyway, we’ve now established that they can sing and that the scattershot noise wasn’t just a diversion to mask the fact that they couldn’t. Newbie ‘Dancer Equired’ arrives next month via Merge and we expect it’ll make a major Impact. KD
