Despite knowing little about this band one of their songs ‘Higher Ground’ has travelled with me since the early nineties when I snagged it on a marathon late night press-play-record session. It’s included below as a marker of where the Feelies have come from and where they find themselves now with the arrival of their first album in 19 years. The all knowing ‘Here Before’ is due out on the venerable Bar/None Records any day now and ‘Should Be Gone’ is the first taste. It shows a band of late middle-agers having lots of fun and capable of writing tunes that could yet see the Glenn Mercer troupe trump another band led by a singer with a similar naming convention. What a kick in the shins that would be. KD
