Yeah I know, it’s a slightly speedier take on the piano riff from Grizzly Bear’s ‘Two Weeks’ but she sure is a pretty thing eh? Ooh ooh ooh-ooh I chimed to myself as a finger hovered over the delete button. And just as I was about to mouth a sigh accompanying ‘how could they?’ things took a turn for the better. For Brighton’s Gloria Cycles ushered in Jen Dalby and her indie girl vocals, the instrumentation for its part slipped into a cosy comfortable meander. In the end it turned out quite sweet, a softer Standard Fare and perhaps another sign that English acts are at last beginning to make a bit of headway again. KD
