With a name like that you’d half expect some variation on the Brian Jonestown Massacre and these bay area psychedelia rendering folks don’t disappoint. The slick meandering ‘Kolob Canyon’ is taken from Assemble Head In Sunburst Sound’s third LP ‘When Sweet Sleep Returned’ and is a perfect soundtrack for long summer fiesta’s when the last thing on anyone’s mind is work. By then minds might not be their own anyway as the stoner vibes present throughout encourage tempting thoughts of illegal scoffing. The chords are so jangly, the percussion so shuffled it must have made complete sense to offer vocals this hallucinogenic. Quite beautiful they are too but then that could be the drugs. KD
