Every December Cody Ground from Austin band Loxsly sends me a fresh new Christmas song. Pithy little numbers they are too, taking a slanted view of the season of goodwill. The little tykes give our Christmas compilations an alternate narration so even though it is only August I’m already looking forward to this year’s gift. Of course Loxsly do other stuff when there’s no snow on the ground ““ 3 releases in as many years to be precise. This one is taken from their 2008 debut ‘Flashlights’ and is indicative of their nifty melodies and gift for a memorable lyric. Just the sort of band we chase, underloved but working their hardest to change all that. Let’s hope they get there some day but don’t forget to play Santa for an expectant all aglow Indiecater. KD
