Weekend drinks get me down, not while they are happening mind, it’s more when the onslaught ends that the worrying contemplation begins. Some day I’ll learn or else I’ll have to spend my mid-weeks discovering tunes that can make it all better. Like Dappled Cities almost Lightning Seedsesque ‘Fire Fire Fire’ for example. And boy is this a chiming melody fest to gorge on. Dappled Cities come from Sydney but give no indication in their sound apart from the fact that it has an extremely sunny disposition. Their new album is called ‘Granddance’ and is produced by a Grandaddy (Jim Fairchild) which has got to be good thing. ‘Fire Fire Fire’ is effortless in every department with gently spilling riffs and harmonies spread deep throughout its elegantly crafted nooks and crannies.
