There is a whole lot for our head to consider on ‘Photo Booth’, a psychedelic rampage of ideas that is marked by a singer who rises above the percussive din to offer contrast of the kind that will have some, including me, palpitating. It is the sheer breath of innovation from this Brooklyn act, the degree of shapeshifting that takes place when Avery Friedman is at the controls that so illuminates. This is how you do experimental while holding onto the widest possible audience, in other words insightful stuff that pushes the game forward masterfully. KH
