Must admit to thinking of Ultra Vivid Scene and the Pale Saints but then you could probably throw a whole lot more 90’s heroes (like the New Zealand Flying Nun set) at it because of what Shapes Like People have achieved here. Namely combining twinkling chords with falling down ethereal vocals so that ‘Ambition Is Your Friends’ gets 2025 off on the right footing for indie nostalgists like myself. This track is a giver and will embellish any day you care to roll out the red carpet to its effortless swoon. Brilliant stuff from this husband and wife (Carl and Kat Mann) duo from Kent. KH
