Aidan & the Wild & Lewin – Christmas in Prison

Well it is as measured as we’d expect from a John Prine song as covered by one of our fave Dutch acts Aidan & the Wild. So we’re right in ‘The Holdovers’ territory – that movie from last year that had such an impact on me because it aimed at folk from the 70’s and the tough innocence that came with it. How beautifully it has been turned out this ‘Christmas in Prison’ though, full of cherubic personality and a wonderful chemistry between the two leads it the kind to pull at the heartstrings in a season that is designed for such inner emotional expression. There won’t be a sweetest Christmas song released this year this utterly spellbinding stuff. Taken from the Revanche Records’ ‘Another Christmas, Vol. 2’ collection. KH
