There is an off-centre feel to the percussive elements but in this Belgian act’s hands that just adds to the grandeur. ‘Winston’ has an ace up its sleeve too in the shape of a chorus that sweeps us up in a most romantic manner. Pale Grey are so obviously an act who make up their own rules, messing with our heads before delivering the joyous melodic payload. We are made to work for it but the rewards are plentiful. And with a whoop we are hurried off into space and beyond. KH
