Anyone Awake – Matching Sweater Date

At the very least I’d be thinking the Unbelievable Truth (Thom Yorke’s brother Andy’s band) but the more we get into the meat of ‘Matching Sweater Date’ it is clear that Radiohead have had a big influence on Idaho’s Anyone Awake. And there is nothing wrong with that whatsoever if this is end result, a wallowing piece of folk that turns on its heal subtly and into rock territory that is mildly experimental but without ever losing focus on keeping the rest of us entertained. This is swoonsome stuff, epic leaning but never so it feels overegged. In fact I’d call it a sweet thing, a cherub a that wanders about the place like an adorable lost puppy. KH
