Steady as she goes kind of entrance and ‘Miracle Mile’ had me drawn into its world as a result. The classic rock strut of a singer hiding something from us helped no end of course, singing as he was with eyes fixed on the truth and trying to fill us in in a most round about away. White Mount Lightning appear to be all about the slow reveal it seems, a second singer adding to the sense of occasion and then come the end pulling the rug from under us by ending abruptly. Oddly it was enough, but not sated so gagging to do it all again. Or you can just take in this Poughkeepsie band’s ‘Jackpot’ LP for greater insight. KH
