Bitter Calm – Don’t Look Down

That is a twinkling kind of opening and the kind that wraps its arms around us because Bitter Calm show us every evidence that they are good old romantics and in an unforgiving world there is plenty of room for that good natured sense of being. They also show themselves to be players of some repute and when things go all instrumentally cavalier they shake off those National comparisons. That felt like a boon to me, because we need a bit of class to go with our folk heroes in 2024 and on this evidence this act are shaping up to that impressive billing. Expect fireworks on their upcoming LP ‘Eternity In The Lake of Fire’ out next month. KH
