When he sings we know we are in the presence of a safe pair of hands because the words are tuned into a different way of doing things. The kind that has us dropping what we are doing and tuning into folk as it was first envisaged, playing that is pretty and expansive but still as quiet as a mouse. And it needs to be because we want to hear every word, chew it over and then get on with our day with a better version of ourselves evolving from three minutes of Lyle De Vitry’s words to the wise. Understated but our compliments cannot be overstated for this is just quiet brilliance. Lyle’s first LP is out this summer and it’s called ‘Door Within a Dream’. KH
