Now this is quiet something, a folky sort from Derry’s Rebecca Mulhern but one that has ambition beyond a winter hearth reading – there is renewal happening all around. ‘Springtime’ blooms as you’d expect and heads off on a certain flight of fancy periodically to get us dreaming. Ruá has a view of the world that is at odds with 2024, a Enya flow here and there but a definite air of the 21st century powering its softly purring engines. ‘Springtime’ is a song to get lost in, orchestral embellishment as it goes and thereby minutes that makes us feel more alive as a result.
