Rainbow City Park – Valentine’s Day 1999

A softness is palpable to Rainbow City Park’s tune and it means there is a likeability to the shimmering guitar lines but mostly in the vocal toing and froing. Reminded me of early Belle & Sebastian, music that you know is a product of real individuals grappling with their circumstances and the interactions with the world all around. So while there is certainly a twee quality to proceedings I also heard plenty in the imaginative playing to suggest that there is crew of strong personalities from Northern California who can circumnavigate every bump along the way.KH
