Maida Rose – Worthwhile

The early mood is near post-rock, the distant thunder of cascading chords but it is the levitating vocals that hold court – just like they always do. For that is what sets Maida Rose apart, the gentle drift of words which are dutifully flanked by playing that might have have arrived via a tropical breeze. Time stands still, heartbeat steadies and most of all we rediscover the reason why we fell in love with dreampop in the first place. ‘Worthwhile’ doesn’t do it justice, this is mood changing and in some cases the moment where everything just turns up rosy.
