Always had a soft spot for dutch duo Maida Rose (Javièr den Leeuw and Roos Meijer) and it is easy to see why for they have a languid dream jangle approach that is forever on the verge of lullaby but keeping it romantic in a way that only those who have experienced love will understand. There is no friction so equally no resistance on our part, in other words tracks like ‘Phoenix’ are effortless and just leave us with nothing better to do but fix our ailing sense of matters of the heart. The healing process has begun and this is one big heavenly plaster on the road to restitution. KH
