Late Check Out – Neil

They’ve left it unvarnished, insofar as this track sounds it was recorded live so there is a crackle of electricity about it – the way that alt rock debut singles should be. Add in a singer who has swallowed the rulebook on post-punk and you get something that is clearly in debt to the Undertones. Not heard a band get that close to what they used do and I must admit to finding it rather exhilarating as a result, especially at the chorus of sorts when all the guns came out blazing. ‘Neil’ is one small step for music, but one giant leap for musickind.
