Bye Parula – Recalling

Haunting piano to get us focused on Canada’s Bye Parula but it is not instructive of where they are headed because they have a rock demeanour going for them, albeit of the more relaxed kind and with a chorus that has a classic pop bent that veers towards ELO territory. And quite unexpectedly this track becomes that perfect few minutes of escapism that we have been looking for, like Arcade Fire but back when ‘Funeral’ was the center of the universe. Bliss. KH
