Barrett Wilson – Pine Tree

Breaks from out of nowhere with a fine assortment of chords and beats and flitting vocals and such is the chopping and changing both instrumentally and in tempo I must say my ear was affixed to all the goings on. And though ‘Pine Tree’ could have led to a head full of sap it was worth the risk because of the elegant eccentricities to the track that it felt that we were breaking new ground here. Reminded me of Matthew Jay in a vocal sense and there is a minor ‘Let Your Shoulder Fall’ resonance in the way this track almost loses its way before coming back with completely winning textures on the two minute mark. I was drawn in, heart filled with all the swirling movements and attendant idiosyncracies. KH
