The way the chords are produced there is drag, the kind that would remind of shoegaze but Portland’s Shox operate so that they have their heads held a bit higher so they can observe the world as it takes place all around. ‘Clover’ really takes its cues from the slacker acts of yore, namely the 90’s and with a twin set of attractions in the form of noisy spiraling riffs and a singer with a tender melodic side Shox do enough to have us in a state of nostalgic glee. A slow building anthem. KH
