Oh my what serious subject matter but in Mute The TV’s hands it feels like something essential, like we’re along for the rollercoaster between the good and bad times with a track that reflects the ups and downs. Aside from getting caught up in the narrative ‘Depression Session’ is a powerful work that constantly turns itself inside out in a loud and gregarious fashion with a chorus festooned with melodies to beat the band. Against the odds it becomes an uplifting triumph despite everything that conspires against the heroes of the piece. Uplifting and visceral drama from this Wicklow act. KH
