Chicago bard Justin Sconza is one of a scattering of acts we keep coming back, creating as he does the sort of indie pop nuggets that are endlessly rewarding. In short he has a way with a tune and his new LP ‘Standards’ has a whole heap of them worth exploring. My fave of the bunch is the sub two-minuter ‘Broken Glass’, that showcases the kind of melodic prowess we are dealing with. It’s a happy-go-lucky soul that can’t but raise the bar in even the happiest of sunny afternoons. KH
