True Primitives – Rise

If it is eeriness you are after then Portland’s True Primitives might have landed squarely on the bullseye with ‘Rise’. Or you could look at it another way, in a club foot Kasabian kind of way because there sure is the rustling of an psych rock anthem here. Love seeing Verve referenced in True Primitives list of sounds-likes because there are vestiges in the montages of that band’s early self-titled EP here – with plenty Spacemen 3 in there too. So ambitious is ‘Rise’ that the only right alternative is to seek out speakers that can truly capture it in all its glory. KH
