Crikey the sheer character of that lead singer, the way she sends those words into the world you know we are in the presence of someone who can transfix our attention every time. The bonus of course is that Manchester’s Big Other surround those magnetic vocals tones with Radiohead like chords (circa ‘Just’ from the Bends) so we have a twin volley of joy to occupy us throughout.
