Alex Bloom – First Time

You’d be thinking there is something of the Beach Boys in there, in the way the vocals are closely knit and melodic but there is a degree of experimentalism to proceedings too. But that shouldn’t put anyone off because Alex Bloom is in command of something timelessly prog that had me thinking Paul McCartney’s Wings in particular. ‘First Time’ is a plume of sweetness, accessible once you passage beyond the skin of differentiation. Must say I felt sweet talked into the romance of it all, the best kind of discovery in the shape of a slow grower. Taken from this LA artist’s upcoming LP ‘Across the Country’. KH
