I couldn’t for the life of me shift that feeling of Tindersticks with Luah’s singer (Brendan Sullivan) all the world a match for Stuart Staples and even the way the playing formulates on ‘House Plant’ we could be in or around ‘City Sickness’ territory. But then I knew it would be more fruitful to take piece of bloomage on its own merits because it was clear that there was an uncommon beauty about the piece. Sure it is down in the mouth but from such a low tide springs wave after wave of hope springing eternal. The denouement is something to be reckoned with to a degree that come the end I was fighting back the tears. The perfect song for a post-David Lynch world. KH
