That opening reminded me a whole lot of Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’ but California’s Eric Schroeder is soon making Emily his own with a noisy rhapsody at every turn, the kind of tumble down which will suit those who like to drink beer and dance in kind. We know its type and love the way the whole piece feels like it has fire at its very soul, pummeling along in a manner that has creeping indie-rock anthem about it. Mixtapes if they were still a thing would be shaking to the stomp that is ‘Emily’ making it the kind of thing that you just can’t turn away from. KH
