Towne & Stevens – Draggin’ the Line

That is a riff for sure, the kind that would remind of Canned Heat and their ‘On The Road Again’ or similar. So Towne & Stevens sure are about focusing the mind, the classic rock stride has been approximated within the first 10 seconds. So much of the work has been done early, we’re drawn in and it is left to the band to make good on our open ear policy. Of course it helps that ‘Draggin’ The Line’ is such a neat tune away from all the percussive elegance. A new driving soundtrack emerges and I went back to the Tommy James original version and tthis cover just about trumps it for me. KH
