Stripes – Forever, It Won’t Change

The first thing that shot through my brain was the Wedding Present and I put that down to the rapid fire playing rather than any thing else. And Brooklyn’s Stripes show us there is plenty more besides, not least a punk laden invective from a singer who can still burst into chorus at will. So ‘Forever, It Won’t Change’ could wake the dead such is its hard frequencies but it can also make the calm descend for those of us with some breath left in our bodies. Behind it all however this is just a band capable of banging out the noise but never at the sacrifice of the tune. KH
