Schmoon – Pretty Darn Pretty

There are times when I really appreciate the slow groove, and Matt Cascella as Schmoon set a hint as to what was coming down the line early on. I don’t think we could have predicted we’d be getting a singer as luminous as presents himself on ‘Pretty Dam Pretty’ however. It’s the sound of the good old days when artists were talented enoguh to convey all sorts of emotions without needing to fill every scintilla of an arrangement with fire. We certainly don’t get that here, instead things move along in a tick-tock way and in the process sets the alarm on waking us up to what really counts. It’s nearly Christmas and so beautiful songs such as this are ideal for focusing our thoughts so we come out all the stronger come the end. KH
