Oh psychedelia how are you, that seems to be what Tokyo’s Hamacide appear to be gesturing to us on ‘Killing The Night’ with that woozy kind of opening. The revelation however comes in what comes next, namely pop that has more than a hint of Morcheeba about it. So we get hopeless innocence with classic pop structures to give off a groove that never gets ahead of itself. And by that I mean that ‘Killing The Night’ always waits for us to catch up before unleashing another round of dancefloor swing. Hamacide have produced a charm offensive and it has worked a treat. KH
