The Davenports – When Everything’s Over

Oh so crafty that opening, playing that is almost jazz like in the silken movements of the arrangements. The Davenports (Scott Klass and friends) are content to leave it there either because they have a bevy of colourful harmonies to add the cherry on tops. ‘When Everything’s Over’ has an off-kilter manner too, but it comes across as one of the most appealing of indie-rock slacker anthems of 2024. Drifting beyond the obvious but sounding ever so accessible at the same time, yep we have a winner here alright. KH
