You’d have to stop what you are doing and give Skloss a good ear because what they peddle is an ancient form of rock and roll and boy does it have a hypnotic effect. Circulates with an adhesion to hard rock but it never sounds overbearing, even if I am one of the first to hold my hands up and say I am out. Might be down to the way ‘The Pattern Speaks’ operates by stealth, the full fury arriving incrementally and in a manner that builds our resistance to the increasing rattle. It’s like the White Stripes are reborn, a pair of noiseniks (from Austin and Glasgow) to take up where Spacemen 3/early Whipping Boy left off. KH
